ABOUT YOJ
YOJ
YOJ is an independent music and media project about how creativity is changing right now.
We are a team of like-minded people with different backgrounds, united by music, visual culture and an interest in new technology. We write music, come up with concepts, lyrics and imagery, build our own radio station, and look for new forms in which music can sound, look and tell stories.
YOJ is not tied to a single genre. We are interested in alternative rock, post-punk, darkwave, synth pop, drum & bass, electronic rock, trip-hop, deep electronic, soul and experimental blends between them.
But genre is not the goal for us. What matters more is the idea, the character of a piece and the feeling it leaves behind. Music can be beautiful, heavy, tender, strange, provocative or very simple. What matters is that it says something to the listener and leaves a wish to hear it again.
HUMAN + AI
Artificial intelligence has become part of our creative toolkit, but not a replacement for the author.
We explore the leading commercial AI tools, follow the arrival of new models and test them in real work with music, text, image and video. The technology is developing fast, so our toolkit will keep changing too. We are not tied to one platform or one model. What interests us is the result, and what new possibilities a tool really gives the author.
Even so, the creative decision remains human.
The idea, the theme, the mood, the lyrics, the musical direction, the narrative arc, the choice of sound, the selection of material, the editing and the final decision about what the public will see and hear remain with people. Behind a single finished track there can be dozens of musical iterations, different versions of the arrangement, vocals, structure and lyrics, and work on dynamics, sound, visual identity and the final selection.
Sometimes AI saves a few hours of work. Sometimes it offers a hundred solutions, none of which fits.
This is not a magic button and not a replacement for taste.
It is a new tool that lets us explore ideas faster, test hypotheses and reach solutions that used to take far more time, people and resources.
What interests us most is a broader question:
what happens to art when the capabilities of an individual author or a small team expand dramatically?
An expensive camera does not make a good film by itself. A professional studio does not write good music on its own. In the same way, access to a generative model does not yet make someone an artist.
Technology can lower the technical barrier, speed up part of the work and widen the space of the possible, but the author’s idea, taste, experience and responsibility do not go anywhere.
Perhaps a different way of creating music and media projects is taking shape right now — one where a small team can run the music, visuals, video, broadcast and overall concept on its own, without splitting every idea across multiple production teams.
We don’t want to talk about this from the sidelines. We would rather test these possibilities on real music and a real project.
And that is exactly why YOJ is open not only to listeners. We are interested in talking with musicians, producers, directors, designers and other professionals who are also trying to understand how new tools are reshaping the creative process.
Not instead of professions. Not instead of experience. Alongside them.
THE SIGNAL
The project’s first public space is YOJ RADIO.
It is a genuine internet radio station and, at the same time, the place where the YOJ musical environment grows. Here music does not exist only as an endless catalogue where you have to know in advance what to look for.
Sometimes you can simply tune in and let an unknown song find you first.
For the listener, everything should stay much simpler than the technology behind the project.
You don’t have to know which tool took part in creating a particular fragment. You don’t have to be interested in generative models at all.
Music should stand on its own.
If it stirs a feeling, then the technology has done its job and can step into the background.
There is an important part of our cultural memory in this, too.
We grew up on music from different eras — on vinyl, albums, radio, cassettes, CDs, music television and the MTV era, when a new video could become an event. Then came the first MP3s, music forums, clubs, festivals, streaming and completely different ways of finding music.
But the feeling of discovery itself stayed the same: accidentally hearing an artist you knew nothing about, and then listening to them for years.
YOJ does not set this history against new technology.
On the contrary, we have great respect for the musicians, songwriters, bands, producers and engineers who shaped the musical culture we grew up with. It is the human music of the past and the present that informs our taste and remains our main source of inspiration.
We are interested not in copying it but in continuing the conversation — joining the musical experience of different generations with a modern sound and with tools that simply did not exist a few years ago.
WHAT'S NEXT
Today YOJ is only beginning.
We already have original music, a working radio broadcast, a visual language and our first formats. But perhaps the most interesting part is still ahead.
Generative audio and video, virtual performers, interactive environments and new ways of interacting with music are developing so fast that in a few years the very process of making a music project may look completely different.
What today takes several separate programs, models and a great deal of manual work will gradually come together in a more unified creative environment.
We want to walk this path now — while the rules are still being written.
Following the development of technology. Trying out new models. Keeping only what genuinely expands the author’s possibilities, and calmly dropping whatever turns out to be just a pretty demonstration of technology.
From music, radio, visual work, video and new forms of interaction, YOJ’s own ecosystem will gradually take shape.
Not a lab for AI content.
Not a factory of endless generations.
But a music project in which technology helps people bring to life ideas that until recently were too difficult, expensive or slow to realize.
YOUR ORIGINAL JOURNEY
YOJ — YOUR ORIGINAL JOURNEY.
For us, the name is not a promise of a perfect future or yet another “technological revolution.” It is about individuality, searching and the chance to follow your own route at a moment when the familiar boundaries of creativity are starting to move.
We don’t know in advance where this path will lead.
And that is exactly why we want to walk it.
Technology expands what we can create.
Human vision gives it a reason to exist.
Технологии расширяют то, что мы способны создать.
Человеческий замысел даёт этому смысл.
